Dear all,

Is there anybody out there who can help me out on this?
I am in need for a complete and good quality service manual for a Shipmate / Simrad marine VHF type RS8300. As being an electronics service engineer I would like to repair our defective VHF myself. I f you have a service manual for the RS8300, please let me know!

Regards,
Ron

Hello Carlton,

Thanks for the link but unfortunately this is another example of a user manual, not a service manual.
A service manual is used for repairs and contains schematics, printboard layout, circuit adjustment data and so on.

Regards,
Ron

I've got a manual for the RS8300/8400 in PDF format.
I don't know if it's got enough information for you but it's quite detailed - 34 pages.
Send me a PM with your email address and I'll send it over to you.
Somewhere I've got some notes on how to reset the MMSI on the 8400 version with DSC.
Don't have the set now so it may take a bit of digging to find my notes - I have the PDF file though

I know it may not be the answer you want to hear but for the Simrad Rd68 on my last boat Simrad wanted nearly as much as a new set just to reprogram the MMSI. In the end I sent it to PRSComms who changed it for a lot less.

Looked everywhere to try to find he trick with the buttons to reset it, but in the end my view was this is a prime example of unnecessary product protection to force more cash out of us. Therefore the likelihood you will find your service manual is low, but good luck anyway. If you do need a new set take a look at Furuno Radio Ocean range, excellent.

One thing is sure - I will never ever buy Simrad, just as I will never again by Sony who fail to honour their warranties. Once bitten by this attitude twice shy, and there are plenty of other sellers of decent kit out there.

Hi Hurricane,
Im new to the forum. I have just bought a yacht fitted with an old simrad shipmate RS8300 system. I need to change the MMSI number on the unit. I was wondering if you still had those notes on how to reset the MMSI on the 8400? Longshot I know, but worth a punt!
Many thanks

Hello Hurricane,

I'm wondering if You still have the Shipmate RS8300 servicemanual as PDF? I'd be happy if You could send it to me. Some adjustments needs to be done in our Fjord 38 AC.

Many thanks

I think this might be the same set as the Radio Ocean by Furuno. Anyway the manual I have is available so possibly of use to you, but not a service manual.

I attach a Dropbox link as the file is too large to upload.

Furuno RO4800 Operators Manual.pdf

I have also found a manual for your specific set - attached.
