Buoys that is. Green pointy thing at the bend in Bradwell. Yacht coming out; bound to meet at that sharp turn round the buoy so out of courtesy we cut the corner inside and leave it to port. Yacht coming out sees us, changes his course and passes the same side of the buoy! Whoops, someone (not a local I think) has been taught to forever go the wrong side! Sorry. Still I've been punished already: both batteries packed up today, best part of £200 in one go. Fortunately crew was West Mersea's finest motor mechanic who went and got his emergency booster thing. Can testify that my bilges don't have any gas in them or there would have been a new constellation over Mersea.

Some deserted yachts abandoned by their owners in Bradwell on this sunny day: anyone we know?

/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gifthat cheered me up - on grandparent duty all week (fun too but more tiring than sailing).

On the spring tide last Friday I was amazed how near the north bank I got before needing to tack. I've never been that far the wrong side of the Thirslet before. Got a bit shallow tacking back once I was out of the creek!. I reckon I could have got round the north side of Osea (have done it my Snapdragon) but not quite brave enough to risk grounding in 20knots!

Probably wise judgement. I did the Stumble several times and then suddenly they buoyed the wreck in the Upper and Lower Collins! Bit sobering. Could never work out how close I might have come! That new buoy isn't very obvious is it?

Thought Sabre looked all sparkly in the sunshine today. You're not blessed with much excess space there are you?

Excess space? It's much better than the last two years and the boat now next to us has a large rubber rubbing strake /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Bradwell is not noted for wide berths /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
