and to counter that awful 'which hat' thread...

Which corkscrew do you find best on board?

I just bought one of those fancy Pull It things (sexy as hell, and two seconds to open a bottle of plonk). Only trouble is, it's so cute to use, you feel obliged to open 3 or 4. My head now hurts.

That\'s more like it

Nice to see a sensible subject. I must have the same corkscrew as you. 'cos I opened too many last night as well.

You see it works like this...me and my boat are drinking buddies. It drinks prodigeous amounts of petrol and I do the same with red wine... and we frequently try and out do each other!

I prefer the Tool Logic cork screw, comes with a neat foil cutter, cheery fork, olive stick and lemon knife, essential for sunny days with pre-mixed pina coladas (Sp?) out of a flask.

Can't be arsed...

Yep, you use it when you are feeling down...... and alternatively can be used for cherries and olives coooor.

I've often told SWMBO that a little fork does wonders to cheer me up...

Do what I do only buy wines in plastic bottles with screw tops. Always pick the bottles with the prettiest labels as that impresses people. I feel so proud when people see me opening a plastic bottle and they say things like "Strewth!" or "Bleedin' 'ell" and intimate the wine is far too good to drink by saying things like "you don't really expect me to drink that"

No, Byron, the real connoisseur stuff comes in Tetrapaks, and you open it with a pair of scissors. Top sommeliers can apparently open these just by pulling the sides apart, but that's a bit advanced for most of us.
