Someone at our marina bought the 2000.8 chart from local chandlery, who sell it the latest. Which is true.....
It is dated August 2011, and does not contain the buoyed channel in the Ray Sand.

Pretty **** I think, as it is such a local chart.
Not even a chart update slip tucked in.

Be warned......

The buoys did not go in until week 37 of 2011 which is September and were notified the next week so that edition of the chart predated them. I don't know but I doubt Imray would issue a new edition just for those two buoys and they have issued a correction in their folio corrections:

Chart 2000+8
Edition August 2011
Date of printing August 2011
1 Ray Sand
Insert:
RW safe water pillar buoy in 51°40’·70N 0°59’·50E
RW safe water sphere buoy in 51°40’·00N 0°59’·50E (ILNW 307/11)

In the meantime, there is a free chart of course plus a NtM in my temporary list (think it's right at the end). The advantage of my chart is that you actually get an image of both buoys as well!

Roger, I know about the corrections - but not included? In the good old days, charts were updated before despatch.

Your sterling efforts on our behalf would have you knighted IMHO.

Present and correct on my chart, so at least I can give feedback to the app supplier that it's more up to date than Imray, I'm sure they'll be pleased

I still mourn the loss of the admiralty chart agent in a run down and dusty old waterfront warehouse in Plymouth that I frequented as a youngster..... now a trendy wine bar.

I can still smell the musty aroma of thousands of aging charts if I concentrate hard.... they had EVERY admiralty chart globally in stock.

The old boy in there had bad eyesight from years of correcting charts daily.... he knew every feature of every chart from Lands end to the Solent.... and quite a few more besides... and would have been mortified to have sold an uncorrected chart.

ah..... memories!

Agreed, this was a solo purchase....

I am pretty sure you don't get the full folio annotated either. I guess it's a huge amount of work and of course most are distributed to chandlers where they sit definitely unannotated until sold. I decided to do the zone lists of NtM to help anyone picking up an old UKHO chart and wanting to refresh it despite new editions having wiped the notices off the UKHO website but I guess they help for folio updaters. Mind you both the UKHO and Imray provide a pdf service for those.

That is an improvement on my navionics chart (updated this morning) which appears to be missing the three cardinals marking the Sunken Buxey!

They are displayed on the community layer but then a lot well intentioned rubbish is also displayed.

Another good source of correctly updated charts is

Very good next day service. I would never buy a chart from a chandlers as has been said never updated and how old are they.

Are you sure they update leisure folio charts, Imaray C and Y series etc? I rather doubt they do

As I understand it, vendors of Admiralty Standard Nautical Charts (the full size ones) are contractually obliged to update them to the latest NTM's before shipping them but no such obligation exists with regard to charts for the leisure side of the industry

At least buying a chart from the chandlery in person gives one a chance to check the dates on it 'cos I too have seen out of date charts and chart folios still on the shelves

Maybe slight drift but if you have the old Imray Digital Charts, Meridian seem much much slower on updating charts than Imray were. Imray Chart C1 - Thames Estuary was reprinted in May 2013 and C30 Harwich to Hoek van Holland was reprinted in March 2013 but the last update for ID10 from Meridian was January. As windfarms are springing up like weeds it's not too helpful. Add to that the C-Map card I bought in April only being a February update and the real problem with electronic charts becomes obvious. Incidentally, they issued updates for week 23 - but if there are new charts the 'updates' won't apply so its misleading.
