Is this competition a scam by YM just to get names & addresses, with no possibility of a prize being awarded?

The boat show competition asked 2 questions
*How many companies are listed in the ybw marine directory?
3,000 5,000 8,000
*In which country is the Amalfi Coast?
Italy Spain France

According to this Directory link from this site there are over 7,000 companies listed in the directory, therefore none of the above 3 options can be the correct answer.

Welcome Eric

No, not a scam. Here's a clue...go for the nearest option (ie the figure that happens to be over 7,000).

We are not well geared for scams; we sit in a very visible building in the middle of London and our address and contact details are liberally scattered throughout the site. The holiday will most certainly be won by a fortunate foursome, I can assure you of that.

Sorry for the confusion over the 7,000/8,000 figure; we ought simply to confess that the directory has the higher number listed now (oops, that did it).

That would be near where Robert Maxwell was based then?

Re:LBS

I did notice that error on the web competition and went for 8,000. But the stand at the show had the correct answer in display 8,000.

All set up to confuse us.

Iain

Re: Welcome Eric

Don't know, to be honest. Never met the man...if I had might have been tempted to teach him that old one about one hand for the boat. But from memory I think his problem was pinching the staff pension fund, not knicking his readers addresses?

Actually forgot to say that you have the full set of opt ins and outs at the foot of the form and we are (heavily) governed by the Data Protection Act.

While I am at it I can assure you that your forum registration will be used for no other purpose than that gathered ie validating you as a user and administrating your account.
