I'm pretty sure I know the answer but has anyone found a way to plan a route on the much friendlier Windows programme on a laptop then send it to the Android tablet MM app? (cable/cloud/btooth/memory card/email etc)?

I plan in comfort and send the route to my Garmin and repeater but then I want to close down the power hungry laptop and use the same route on the tablet. At the moment I have to repeat the waypoints manually on the tablet.

I can save the route on the PC as a .MMO and click it on dropbox on the tablet but nothing happens...

As a supplementary, those of you with VHM Marine Navigator, is it do-able?

Seems to be easy enough in android Memory Map too.
I just created a route on the PC, saved it as a .GPX, put in on the android in /Download/Memory-Map, then viewed it using overlay->routes->view.
Should also work with a .MMO I would have thought.

Thanks Steve

I wonder if I have an earlier version of MMap. When I go overlays-routes- there is no 'view' just a window saying overlay data.

My routes that I created on the tablet are there but the MMO in /Download/Memory-Map isn't.

If I go into file manager on the tablet and click the MMO, android asks me what app I want to open it in with MMap not on the list.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear there. The 'view' option appears when you select one of the routes in the 'overlay data' page.

I don't have the PC version of Memory Map so can't create a genuine .MMO but I did rename any old file xxxx.MMO and put it in /Dowload/Memory-Map on the android and you are quite right, it doesn't appear on the 'overlay data' page.

Does PC Memory Map allow the export of routes as a .GPX because that would appear to be a solution?

Yes, I've created a .GPX and drop-boxed it. It loads into a free walking app 'View Ranger' ok

Update! I've had this post half written for 2 hours while I played-

I had to cut and paste the GPX I'd created into the MMap folder then (the part I'd missed) touch on the bottom menu bar (three vertical dots) which opens 'Routes Menu'. Click on 'Load Saved Data' and presto!

Reminds me of Hitchhkers Guide where the planning notice is on display in a derelict cellar, with no stairs, in a locked filing cabinet with a sign saying 'beware of the leop'ard' ........

Cheers Steve-
I'm heading past your location at some point this summer- if I don't end up lost....
