Importing Boats from US

I was interested in an American built Trophy Power Boat with twin Mercruiser Diesels but its been sold.
So the thought occurred, import one of my own.
About 8 years ago there were UK based firms which specialised in selling American boats or offering boats which were still in the US and they would arrange the import.
Have these firms closed down or am I not looking in the right place.
Any suggestions please.

there are many potential obstacles to importing a boat from the US. a major stumbling block can be the RCD, so first thing is to choose a boat that has been sold in the EU with an RCD, then find out what is necessary to make it comply. May well be fairly straightforward.

Then you have to find your boat, get it shipped and pay duty and VAT. You may well find that doing all that as a one off is simply not economic.

Not surprised you can't find anybody doing it commercially. There is not sufficient profit in it - for the above reasons, and our market is swamped (in general) with used boats of the type that might be worth importing.
