Vat and CE marking and import duties (payable on cost of boat AND transport), and

There have been several long detailed threads on this, and it would be well worth reading them (do a search on CE marking), which give some indicators of cost of shipping as well.

FWIW I got a quote the other day for shipping a 46 footer from Fort Lauderdale to Southampton @ $20,000 so I guess a 27 footer would be $10,000 or less. Apart from VAT there may be some other import duties to pay and you will need to get the boat CE certified (worth talking to CE Proof)
Then you may have additional costs changing the mains voltage components if the boat has shorepower
Oh yes, I nearly forgot. Obviously, you will have to change the boat from Left Hand drive to Right Hand drive

110/60. well remembered.

If the boat is less than 8ft beam, it will fit in a 40ft container. Much cheaper to ship from US.

Yes, you're right, a container should cost less than $5000 to ship across from the US

Shipping, including all paperwork, insurance and customs clearance (VAT paid separately ) cost me £2,300 for a 22 foot boat on a trailer Nofolk Virginia to Liverpool. I did a fairly lengthy post at the time (try a search) and the process worked well for me. If I can help further PM me.
