Anyone using iSailor on an Android device managed to import routes ?

The manual describes how to do it with iTunes, but that doesn't recognise Android devices. It also talks of doing it by emailing attachments, but neither my phone nor my tablet know what to do with a GPX file.

If you email the file to your tablet, go to : my files > downloads. Copy the file and save your gpx, kml or kml file in : internal storage > documents > uninav

Then when you go to import in isailor, you should be able to see it.

Thanks for the reply, but i'm no longer using iSailor on a tablet. I do use it as a backup on my phone, so i'll try it there :encouragement:

This is a teaser ! Having sent an isailor 2.80 (android) track as a gpx attachment by email I then clicked on the attachment and firstly my android (8.0) tablet said there are no apps that can open this attachment, and then after many repeated attempts, isailor did start to respond by opening, but the Import window remained blank.

In all honestly, I repeatedly attempted this seemingly simple task for about 3 hours. During this time I closed and restarted the isailor app. I shut down the tablet and rebooted many times, hoping to clear any possible glitches.

And then, all of a suddenly, the Import window displayed the gpx and I clicked “Import” and the track was imported successfully.

So, I have tried to import a second track following exactly the same sequence as before, and the Import window remains blank, no matter how many times I try.

Having proven that the process is correct and did work, why, oh why, oh why, won’t it work a second time ?

The track is stored in internal storage > documents > uninav and when I clilck on it, an option appears “ Complete action using isailor “
I click and still it doesn’t appear in the isailor import window

I asked isailor why this is happening and they simply confirmed that the sequence I am using is correct.

Ps As a final test I installed “gpx viewer” and it works every single time, but is no use as I need to open the track in isailor.

I would be so grateful and relieved if anyone else has had a similar experience and found the solution.

Problem solved. In case anyone else ever faces this...

The problem was that my new tablet was not storing the gpx files exactly in Phone Storage/Documents/Uninav but either

- directly in Phone Storage/Documents
- directly in Phone Storage//Downloads
- indirectly in Phone Storage/Downloads/Uninav
- indirectly in Phone Storage/My Documents/Tracks/Saved

It was by comparing and checking my smartphone that I was able to see the gpx files exactly in Phone Storage/Documents/Uninav
and all appearing in the “Import” window on the phone that I realised I need to cut and paste the gpx files into the precise directory on the tablet.
As soon as they were in that directory, they appeared in the Import window of isailor and were imported successfully.
