Hi,

I would be interested to import a boat from the US to Morocco. I am interested in a bowrider 25' 2004+. I have found some good ones from FW and Chaparral at 35k$+ 2004+ but I dont seem to find many bowriders in Spain or Europe and the prices seem way too high. I am interested to import it and would like to know how does it work. The big concern I have is that I wouldn't be able to test it and check it out.

Re the CE regulations that people face when importing boats to Europe, we don't have any in Morocco so it's all fine.

Please advise

....the reason being that the sea state is quite different from a US lake to the Med. We find that the Med goes through a daily cycle, calm first thing, then chopping up for a good bit of the day to settle down again in the evening. On top of this you have Tramontanas, Boras, Mistrals all waiting to catch you out. A bowrider is strongly unrecommended.
....and welcome to the forum

Hi,
I just read your posting and believe my dad may be able to help you. he works for marine max and sends boats all round the world and i know that he has a customer in nigeria. We are british and live in florida he sells sea rays mainly and they get them for bargians as marine max is large and buys hundreds at a time. We go out all the time on a demo boat, it is a sundeck 240 it has a single 300hp engine the boat rides smooth and can cope with a lot more than expected. he takes care of all the shipping and regs so you dont have too. get back to me if you want any more details. by the way i used to have a different account but have moved to the us and in the procees forgotten the username and password sorry.

David, I dont really agree with you as I leave on the atlantic and spend all my summers on the med. I can tell you that the med is very calm at a point that you can compare to a swiming pool. Even that when we were kids we were very disapointed to never use our surf boards and bougies. Maybe it depends on the area where you are but we are at 100km on the est of Tanger. Most boats I see on thar coast are bowriders, sport boats and water crafts. I dont see what other boats could be used for sports and cruise nearshore. I dont see myself sleeping in a cabin while I have a summer house there.

But surely a bowrider is a 'fun' boat - most won't be going out in one if it's really rough, and I've been out in quite a chop in a 18' bowrider and i've never "stuffed" it yet - yes it's a wet ride, and yes, I've had water over the sides at the front, but nothing major, and any US bowrider will still float even swamped!

A good centre console however is also a choice, but if a bowrider is what you want, go get!

Yeah, i agree with ontheplane and zoom. Last year i went fishing out in the gulf for an 18 foot cc for over 20 hours and we were fine. A 24 foot bow rider will give up way after we have. The SeaRay Sundeck 240 is actually 26ft and feels extremely substacial. We were out on one the other day during the emerald coast poker run. I fished off of it and my brother tubed behind it and in the ruffer water we were keeping up with bajas and fountains. Zoom007 please contact me if you have any questions about any boats or the complications of shipping, jack.

I would say I wouldn't be on the sea if that day the sea is rough. So I dont worry on that side.

Scrasie I sent you a pm on friday and again now. Let me know if you receive them. I would be definitely interested in good bowriders you could get me.

Any body can get me some details of some good surveyors in the US and how are the pricings done?
