Does any one know a supplier of imperial size counter sunk machine screw in or around Ipswich. I need one for the cutlass bearing housing.

A couple of years ago I needed some 5/16" UNC countersunk in stainless. I rang round a number of those places advertising ‘we supply any size’ etc without any luck – ‘nah mate, haven’t seen any of them for years’. The USA still uses proper thread sizes so I emailed a firm called Bosun Supplies to see if they would send to the UK. No problem, the screws arrived a week later. And they didn’t cost the earth even with the postage.

They certainly do imperial sizes, they will sell in small numbers if you go in person to their counter.

Not sure of the extent of the S/S range though.

Anyway, it's another name for anyone who might be interested.

If you are near Brightlingsea in your travels call into French Marine - at their chandelry you can go through the various draws of bits and buy just 1 screw if that is what you want.
