Impellor Change

Does anyone know where the impellor is located on a Mercruser 496 Mag HO and if it can be changed with the boat in the water?

Depends on the drive, if it has a Bravo 1 ,2,or3 drive then the impellor is in the pump low down on the starboard front side of the motor, best to remove the pump to change the impellor, making sure you block the water hose from the transom or it will flood the boat. And refit the hoses to the correct fittings on the pump or it will blow instead of suck!
If its an Alpha drive which I doubt it will be in the drive which means lifting the boat and splitting the drive to change it.
