Last autumn it was done by professionals. Yesterday I decided on DIY. Couldn't shift the screws (slot headed). In the end I had to fetch my impact driver, which did the trick. Made me think about doing it as an emergency with the boat bouncing about. I now have hexagonal socket(Allen) screws and an Allen key hanging nearby.

:)

similar reasons, same solution!
In hindsight I should have gotten torx which are much better and can take more abuse.

Did you go for ss or galvanized?
I got ss but I then noticed that originals were galvanized (at least I think)

cheers

Put my old bolts back in, with lashings of copperslip

Stainless. Cost £1.

I did wonder when I bought the Speedseal covers with the stainless knurled thumbscrews about the galvanic difference and possible affect on the body of the pump. Jabsco used brass screws for a reason. I didn't reach a conclusion.

Used them for years with no problems evident, no more broken or snapped brass screws ever again, hallelujah.

On my Cat 3126's, you can inspect the impeller in situ, but have to remove the pump to change, as there is not sufficient space to withdraw said impeller. This means disconnecting several of the raw water hoses. Not a job I fancy while bobbing about on the briny!!!
