Impact of increased cost of diesel

Does anyone own up to still using "Gas Oil" ? I had , perhaps wrongly, assumed hat all outlets on the river were dispensing the road legal stuff?

No, just charging road diesel prices for Red.

A lot of folks where I am at the mo: are declaring 10% or nil for propulsion just to get the price down.

More and more RDCOs are forcing folks to declare 60/40 which is against the HMRC's definition of the scheme. HMRC are not interested as the extra income is not worth a lot.

Whats "Red" though, some outlets are selling road fuel with a red dye, some are selling non bio road going red and some are selling gas oil which is red but not the same as heating oil  If you ask the guy selling it most don't have a clue anyway, "its Red mate" :(

I accidently bought some 40/60 for the winter.

Fuel cost

Filled up at the end of last season, about £300 or so to feed two 80hp diesels which sip the stuff (plus loads for our heating of course). This should last the whole season, lots of short trips, a couple of longer ones, but all on the upper Thames, so the cost is not really an issue in the scheme of things. We probably spend more on wine!
