Im thinking of buying a Nimbus 31 .. Things to be aware of please

Hi Folks

Any useful information would be appreciated before I take this step.

Anything in particular I need to look out for? On the whole most people are very complimentary about the build quality, reliability and longevity.

For example I hear the windscreens are a one pice item which can be costly to replace if damaged! These little titbits are useful

Good quality

Owned a Nimbus 345 for a short time.
Very well made "Det Norske Veritas" certification. Similar to Lloyds 100A1.
If it is the 31 Ultima with rear cabin the freeboard is quite high and side decks tend to be quite narrow, but it depends what you are used to.
Found slow speed on the 345 a bit vague as the rudders were quite small, but if single engined Ultima this should not be a problem.
Good ride at sea but quite light (compared to previous Broom 37 (1991)) so can be a bit lively.

Concur with what miket posted.
Quality build.
I would spend as much attention and time on the engine side of things.
IE.
All the mechanical bits basically.
Engine gearbox shaft and seals etc.
Get a real good mechanic/ marine engineer/ surveyor to check all those bits out.

The bits made by Nimbus will be fine.
My old Girl is now 25 years old.
The hull, the woodwork, the 'fit out bits' are all in outstanding nick.

Tiss the bits that make Her go that are now wearing out!

I have to mention too.
Contacting the factory in Sweden is a joy.
Wealth of knowledge and good service.
Better English than like what I have got!
Oh and I have had tips and advice from them other lot what talk funny darn sarf.

Only ever bought bits and bobs off them.
Again they are willing and curteuos with advice etc.

So I would say the 31 is a real nice boat.
Plus its good to have back up should you need it.
