I\'m re-introducing the rum ration

It has been a difficult decision, but in the end I think it best for the crews' spirits. If it was good enough for the Royal Navy it's good enough for me.

I trust others will follow this example.

Father - in - Law had 32 years in the grey funnel line. There is no chance of getting rid of it on here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's been my rum of choice for a long time,,,,,,,
REAL Pussers as issued was good stuff, not really related to the Pussers brand of today, but Army issue Quartermasters rum, issued "in emergencies" was better still. A gallon jug of that would be a real find!

The quality of the real pussers really depended on the country of origin. IIRC there were a couple of distilleries in the west indies, supossedly making the same substance, but they were very different in taste. I bought quite a lot from Gib when the ration ended and still have about a pint left in a proper whicker covered stone jar. abt 120% proof and a taste of its own, although I have to say that there is a special rum from Grenada that I prefer, and mountgay is a good substitute.

Re: I\'m re-introducing the rum ration

when i introduced it on our boat,i ran aground ! the captain du port made me promise not to drink strong drink anymore before the dredger pulled me off and continued to open the entrence to the port. Those were silly days, we had just bought a motor boat not realising that to go anywhere the engins must be running all the time!!!
