I\'m hooked !

I've been anchoring in Pyefleet for the best part of 25 years and appreciate the mid-week quiet there ; always anchor above the moorings and usually in mid-channel ; no problems.
Yesterday I claimed first prize in the 'abandoned moorings location competion' /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif ; low water fortunately, but still hard work lifting it high enough to unhook.
North side of the channel, six inch chain running parallel to the bank.
Tripping line anyone ?

Re: I\'m hooked !

You don't happen to have a position for that, do you? We anchor in Pyefleet regularly and I'd rather learn from your experiences than repeat them!

Re: I\'m hooked !

Hindsight is a wonderful thing ! Having got free, I was more concerned about not missing the flood up to Maldon and I'm now three hours drive from a chart.
Approximate position north side of channel, above the new yellow '8 knot' speed limit buoy and just below the drying creek to the back of Pewit (sp?) Island.
Just about where my '85 East Coast Rivers shows a big anchor - probably the chain off that !
By the way, I given myself 100 lines for spelling.

Umm, yes - that anchor was there on the chartlet in the first edition of East Coast Rivers. Bet that hasn't been revised since 1956 ignoring the fact that the guy with the moorings there is quite active.

Pewit - yes correct

Re: I\'m hooked !

so are you suggesting it was the anchor on the chart that he accidentally picked up - the purple one?
