i\'m happy again

weather thought it had the better of me (ok so it did) but not no more!

although the rain was a bit anoying, i have managed to replace all of the wheelhouse... yes the one that i threw into the next field in my blind temper..... but enough of that.

worked most of today (not quite true as i woke up with someone elses head on after a particularly enjoyable evening in a pub.... don't know which one though... oh dear)... clearing damp timber from places where damp timber shouldn't live, managed to find the forward bulkhead (i knew it was there all the time) and strip, sand and paint... so that's that done.

now i'm on the lookout for some mahogany kitchen doors as it's time to fit out the galley. ebay will be my preferred location for such items, although a trip to Gravesend just to pick up a couple of 5 quid doors seems a bit over the top.

last time i posted i was piss wet through, half my boat was in the next field and if someone had offered me a job working on wooden boats somewhere warm and sunny.... mmmmmmm warm and sunny..... i'd have jumped at it. but all said and done, iv'e managed to get a second go at replacing the wheelhouse, and a much better job it is.

i'll post some pics if anyone is interested, as i know there are one or two people watching the bodgeup... sorry... restoration. (they are almost as mad as i am)

steve.

Re: i\'m happy again

I would love to see the pics . Don't worry about throwing things in a blind rage , thats wood work /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: i\'m happy again

Steve, must be as mad as you to travel all that way to see an unfinished project!
But worth it for two reasons, 1. to put a face to the name, 2. what some of my options look like in the flesh. Don't you feel the cold?
Alan

Re: i\'m happy again

Congrats with getting back into it and getting on.

Woodwork can be the most incredibly irritating activity in the world. You always need a quite spot where you can go and sit down out of sight of the boat. Sometimes that is a nice spot looking over the water, often it's the pub, but it's the only way you get back there!

Have fun for the summer, there's some sunshine on the way..... eventually. We'll have winter first, sometime around April! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Re: i\'m happy again

Good new indeed, better eather coming.

That blow up dinghy you sold me has been inflated all winter and not gone soft at all, 100 quid well spent.

Re: i\'m happy again

great to meet you, i've travelled miles to look at half built boats too.

nah... cold never bothered me... got the covers on and the heating sorted so as soon as i remember the blody milk i can have a coffee!

here's looking forward to getting her back in the water.

Re: i\'m happy again

now, there someone who's made the fatal mistake of expressing an interest... what with me being a anorak as far as my boat is concerned!!

here's the link to the photobucket thingy with lots of pics...

lots of pics

enjoy...

steve.

Re: i\'m happy again

hey, glad you liked 'em.

just deciding whether to go and get drunk or to go and have a night on board... get and early start and all that.

could compromise... after all.... it ain't a dry boat!

how's forbsie's coming on?

Re: i\'m happy again

A night on board sounds good to me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Forbsies is getting there but it's a big job for anyone , He's up to the wheel house now so yeah , it's looking good .
I'm after a project myself as this plastic lark with nothing to do is boring !

Re: i\'m happy again

Hi Steve, not the best time to ask. I've got CCScott and John Beddoes (maybe Pauline too) coming for an inspection later today. I'm hoping Colin has a long lie in after getting me severely lashed last night. Currently working on joining the coachroof to the front of the (to be) wheelhouse. I will be posting photos soon. Ra Monarch is looking magnificent! Well Done.
