Does anyone know where I can buy these? I have searched online but without success. One company has them but is a trade only operation, another has a website in which they appear, but a telephone call reveals they know nothing about them. I have had one of these padlocks for years and it is totally rust free, unlike so many sold for marine use.

I've tried that. It's hard work.

[/ QUOTE ]What? Asking them for details of a couple of local retailers you could order from?

They are not very good at finding retailers. They don't have prices on their website. They don't accept cards. That enough for you?

[/ QUOTE ]I suppose if you've adopted the same attitude with them, it's hardly surprising you haven't had much success.

I use some stainless padlocks bought on eBay for the last three years and they have been fine - search on "stainless padlock" and lots come up included well known names like Squire, Abus, Draper, Yale etc and a rather good looking one for motorcycles which looks good.

The trouble with the all brass padlocks like the Plastimo ones is that you can saw through them in about 3 seconds flat with a junior hacksaw! Been there, done that, after locking the keys inside - I immediately changed the padlocks to all stainless ones which hopefully would take a little longer to saw through.
