I am looking at a 'vedette' boat in France - steel hull , built 1952. It says it has a 120hp IFA diesel engine.( HG-G5 ) ? Blowed if I can find out anything about such a motor. . .maybe that's why it is cheap ? Any ideas please ?

From memory it was a Daf high speed diesel engine designed for use in modern trucks of the day, i think they were taken over by Sofim who continued to manufacture them and spare parts.

Sofim were taken over by the Fiat empire.

This is from memory so check as the memory is not what it was.

Part of the memory has returned, and i think they were around 14 litres capacity and had outputs of 120-160ish BHP.

IFA type Diesel engine , What is it ?

14 LITRES ??? wow !. . .I bet there are no spares around for that now. maybe a Perkins would take it's place.
