If only my Mum liked sailing.

Really nice little forecast for Sunday, but we are going down to my Mums, to eat an average lunch at an average pub, having given average flowers at much more than average money, because its Mothers Day, as supported and encouraged by all retail businesses which stand to benefit.

My Mum doesn't like sailing, which is a pity, as we could have improved on everything except the flowers.

And I will have to be nice to her soppy dog.

Bah.

Its not as if my impecunious offspring take me down the pub for 6 pints of Dogbolter on Fathers Day. Still, at least I won't miss sailing on Fathers Day. More like an inalienable right.

A timely reminder, ta muchly, normally forget so will try to remember for once. Thankfully one is not expected to travel to the other side of the country, and a phone call will suffice /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
As for sailing, six o'clock in the morning AM should be banned /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

It's one of the few benefits of being a mother, which only kicks in when the sprogs have flown the nest. I can do what I want to do on Sunday - go out sailing - and if the kids want to take me out to dinner or send me flowers, then they have to fit in with my sailing plans!

Forget all that soppy stuff. Give her a bottle of scotch. That used to be my mother's day present. She always preferred it to chocolates.

Would love to, but my Mum has been a joyless Teetotaller for 20 years at least. Since her illness, she has given up the fags too, which has aggravated her aggravation.

MMMMMMM

My mum doesnt like me sailing

My mum doesnt like me riding motor cycles

My mum worries if i am eating well (left home 32 years ago not starved yet)

Love her to bits it will be a fone call Carrickfergus is too far to go with some chocolate and a card.

Sorry, it's probably not funny, but it tickled me...

I gave up having a mother nearly thirty yrs ago, but SWMBO expects me to honour her "because I'm the mother of your children". /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

At least Mother's Day isn't in the middle of the summer. Forget your boat - the mindset is 'give Mum a day she will enjoy(ish)'.

I found going to see my Mum really hard for the last few years when she didn't know who I was and couldn't really communicate. Sat and held her hand and rabbitted on. It would have be her birthday 3 days ago - Sheila said to me 'You did well by your Mum'. S'pose. Nuff said.

Sorry if I took your post a bit more seriously than intended - had a bit of a sad moment there /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I had exactly the same experience, and I also found Mother's Day a bit of a problem for the first few years, but my mother died nearly 20 years ago. All my sympathy.
