IDS has lost and now resigned. I expect there will be a snap election to take advantage of the situation. Like or dislike the man, he was elected properly and now ditched under old rules. I am glad that I have an escape clause (dual nationality)

I always felt that the Conservative party in the country elected him because they did not want the alternative they were offered, Ken Clarke.
If he has lost a vote of confidencehe obviously could not run the Conservative Parliamentary party so no matter what he says he was not leading the party. As IDS was prominent amongst those, who stabbed John Major in the back, and failed to support him I cannot see why IDS should complain when others return the compliment. I was brought up to understand that if you want loyalty you first have to display it, and that IDS certainly did not do.
Lets hope the new guy, whoever, makes a better fist of it before Brown gets the idea that we rich boat owners can afford to pay an annual tax on our boats.
