Saying that I am desperate to get back afloat permanently would be an understatement, so I've hatched an idiotic plan.

There's an ancient AWC that's for sale in the Crabby-Ian. Later today I'm having a WhatsApp video call with the broker while he is aboard. I want to see both engines running and prop-wash astern. I want to see all the instruments switched on and working. There are receipts for standing rigging, sail maintenance, plus a few other things which I've seen (kindly translated by @Koeketiene). The owner has obviously spent the moolah on maintenance but sadly for him he now has health issues.

It's as close as dammit to hurricane season over there and the annual berthing is due soon, so the seller is motivated.

I intend making a very low-ball offer, without the benefit of actually seeing the boat or a survey, which will be subject to the sale of my apartment here in Portugal.

What could possiby go wrong?

I certainly would not accept a sale contract which was dependent on the buyer selling something of unknown value in a country I don't know anything about.

I thought that you would be too busy moderating to have time for sailing

Have you bought a boat unseen from Lagos before ?

WhatsApp video chat now done. Next... it has aluminium rudder shafts, which is a definite no no with CopperCoat.

Oh!! Thanks for the heads upon that one. Better do something about that . Fortunately it has only been 10 years, so I should catch it in time
It's a lot like putting a copper penny into the bilge of an aluminium boat to keep King Neptune appeased.
