Idiot 1st question from 2.5Hp Yamaha outboard owner

If I was to have accidently sprayed high pressure water (jet-washer) up the exhaust port of my Yamaha 2.5Hp (4 stroke), will I have forced water past the exhaust valve and into the combustion chamber?!

Well that's certainly not the recommended course of action but unless you were aggressively trying to clean out the exhaust internals I think you will have escaped any real damage. Obviously the best course of action would be to remove the plugs, turn the engine over a good few times to clear any water and spray in some oil to lubricate the cylinder and then run her until she has well warmed up. Then check your engine oil to verify water hasn't got past the rings anywhere.

Does the exhaust vent into the lower leg? If so I guess I'd have to fill that first before it got anywhere near the exhaust valve...? Anyway I followed the advice given and it starts and runs fine, can't see any water in the oil, no mayo. Many thanks.
