Are they called "Panama Chocks" ?

Strictly speaking in the Panama Canal regulations they were introduced as Panama Fairleads to ensure safe handling of the ships by the Mules when the ships were in the bottom of the locks!!!! Chocks is what you have on the anchor chain to stop things happening when not wanted :D:D

Americans call fairleads "chocks". Same as they call spray-hoods "dodgers" and dodgers "spray cloths", and probably other perversions yet unknown :)
