There was a beautiful ship anchored in the Tagus two days ago.
Four masts, schooner rigged with a single square sail on the foremast. Lots of sheer and a rather Germanic sweep to the fwd part I thought. Couldn't see the stern.

Any ideas?

The Creoula
She was built in just 70 days as was her sistership the Santa Maria Manuela http://www.santamariamanuela.pt/pt .They belonged to a shipping company named Orey Antunes owned by my grandfather's brother. It's still in the family. My grandfather inherited it and sold it to his brother when he turned 21 according to my mother.
The ships, now restored and sailing again, were used for cod fishing in the Grand Banks together with the rest of the fleet which included the Gazela
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gazela.
The reference to the Germanic sheer is funny because my family has German origins.
