My boom is almost certainly Kemp of 1980's vintage.

The boom end fittings are brownish, cast alloy units and the aft end has three pulley sheaves- the outer two, 28mm OD are plastic for the two reefing lines and the centre one also 28mm is alloy with a plain bronze bush to take an 8mm pin. This sheave is only 5.5mm thick and intended for the 3-4mm wire mainsail outhaul and it needs replacing.

One Selden(who acquired Kemp)agent has been unable to identify the part, nor have two local chandlers.

The end fitting is embossed with "Reef 1" on one side and " Reef 2" on the other together with the numbers "0913", and "500-010" on alternate sides.

Can anyone tell me who manufactured that fitting and even better does anyone know if the wire sheave pulley wheel still available

Yes but not for a few days in all probability.

For what it's worth the gooseneck end has a similar number range embossed on it ( hard to read and thought not to be identical) and has two jamming lever handles on the underside for cleating off the reefing line there

Ah. They had Proctor masts. Ring Mike Lucas Yachting - I think they were THE big Sadler agent in the old days. 01803 212818. I think Proctor is part of Selden as well now, in which case ring Andy Postle at Allspars 01752 266766.

There may be a sheave that will fit your sheave box here.

It sounds like your boom is very similar to mine, in which case it is an old Kemp one. The ID 500-010 is a similar format to Selden's current production but the profile is no longer made

Those folks tried really hard to match my needs but couldn't find anything exactly the same, but thanks for the lead

Just a final update, with thanks for all those who contributed.

It seems that the part number is similar not only to Proctor but Kemp parts and it also seems that the part is obsolete

However, on the plus side, someone in the marine industry has had a rummage in their boat bits box and come up with a secondhand but good condition sheave on which we have agreed a price- so problem solved.

Phew!- I thought I was in for at best a new boom end fitting(unlikely) or a new boom
