Hi just fitted my M506 on my new boat and have also purchased a low range hook 7 for it as well. However there do not appear to be any Nmea 2000 ports on the hook, therefore my radio has no automatic positioning. My question is, can I just connect the radio directly to a stand alone gps antennae through the nmea 2000 port.

You can, although NMEA2000 GPSes are more expensive than basic NMEA0183 ones.

Hah. Given the OP’s question, I assumed it didn’t have one

Not only does the M506 have an 0183 input, but the Lowrance has an 0183 output (provided you buy an optional cable for it.)
