I had no idea radios were sold on ebay!I have no idea under which heading even though ive found several radios in the UK & France this week!

I went to ebay.fr and typed in the search box "icom" from there other makes can be chosen.

Yesterday was an Icom 700/F for sale price 230 euros(and just now)sale ends tomorrow. There was an icom 706 which sold for 310 euros yesterday so the chances are this Icom wont fetch more??Radios ive noticed are far less expensive in France than the UK.

The M700 looks realy complicated? Is it a broadband radio or only marine chanels??Is it a fair price or far to expensive??

I had a M700 that was broadband and I think they're well worth that kind of money. They are easy to use.The instructions are clear and can be downloaded from the Icom site.
Instalation is critical and has been debated here quite a lot.And you'll need a automatic tuner for that.
The problem with mine was that when it went wrong it really went wrong.Absolutely nobody could fix it properly.I managed to get it to work for about a month and then it went funny again and that was it.

Icom make excellent radios. This is a Marine band MF/HF SSB set that has channelised transmit, but general coverage receiver from .5 - 29.9999 MHz. That means that you will be able to receive the 518 navtex, and go all the way up to the 28Mhz amateur bands. But you won't be able to transmit on the amateur bands.

This is an excellent radio for the money you quote - however, you need to be sure it is working.

Broken marine band radios can be mended (apologies to the previous poster who had difficulties) by an ICOM dealer, or by getting to know some of the local Amateur Radio guys.

You will need a proper antenna system and an antenna matching unit. MF/HF isn't like VHF - you don't just plug in an antenna and transmit. You will also need a ground plane.

Many people insulate a section of their backstay for MF/HF; others will buy one of the 'mobile' tuneable whip antennae available from amateur radio shops - HiQ is a good make.

Whatever you do, don't just plug in a bit of wire and try transmitting - you could well blow the final power amplifiers if you have a seriously mismatched antenna.

Any further help, PM me.

According to the vendor thats living along the coast from Nice its working well. For repairs depending whats wrong i can keep a radio going!

The only drawback is that i use Amature frequencies & i told with this set i have to key in the frequency theres no VFO. Thats a problem as on a net there are always some that are a few kcs off.I have a QRP set an old 747SX for the moment having sold my FT897 to a friend.

I thought it might be good value!!Have to see what the final price is tomorrow!

My M700 was fixed ,after many attempts,by the portughese Icom official agent. When it went wrong after that I gave up and got a M710.
