I have an ICOM M33 hand-held VHF and I can not understand from the manual how the Tri-watch mode works - the example given is rather confusing.
I understand dual-watch. In this mode the user first selects any working channel, then presses the dual-watch switch. This has the effect that the receiver will monitor any transmission on either the working channel or channel 16. If the PTT is pressed, it will transmit on the working channel.
The manual seems to suggest that in Tri-watch mode you can monitor transmissions on any working channel, something called the "call" channel (which is 20 in manual), plus 16. I would have expected this mode to allow any additional channel to be monitored, as well as the working channel and 16 - but, if that is the case, it is not at all clear, nor how you select that additional channel. Nor is it clear what happens when PTT is pressed.
I've managed to select Tri-watch mode in the setup menu, and it does display "Tri" on the screen when I select the button - but I don't understand what it is doing or how to choose the working channel and the "call" channel.
Any help appreciated,
Thanks - Joe
