Last week my Icom Command Mic stopped working. :( Pain in the bottom as it means that I can't hear what's going on while in the cockpit. I have done all the checks that I can on the wiring checking continuity etc but with no luck in finding a fault.

As a last check before I send it back to Icom, is there anyone in the Clyde / Crinan / Oban area that has one that I could possibly meet up to see if it is the boats wiring or the mic which is the fault?

Many thanks

Chris

Is the mic. completely dead? If so, it would be worth checking the power supply through the multi-pin socket. I can't help you with the pin-out, except that I've got an idea it's 9v.
However, a 'phone call to Icom UK might be worthwhile. I spoke with a technical guy about an issue on my M505.

I'll need to try that once back at the boat as I didn't have the wiring details while there (then I forgot to check it when I found them :)).

Very frustrating.

Thanks

When that happened to me it turned out to be a fractured wire just above the microphone. I opened the microphone took the wires off stripped off the covering until I found the fracture, cut the wires to size and rewired the microphone. From memory it required soldering but don't hold me to that it was years ago.
