Waiting for a reply from Icom but can the group help?

I have just purchased an IC-M423 and remote handset to upgrade from my IC-M411. My GPS is a garmin 5008. The 411 just had two wires to connect to the gps and worked perfectly. The 423 has four wires on the nmea in/out connector. Can anyone advise how I connect to the garmin network to get my GPS position data on the radio?

Thanks......

(Sorry for duplicate posted this on scuttlebutt earlier in error.)

I have a similar set up but with an ICOM 505 and a Garming 5012. I don't have the manuals in front of me as they are on the boat, but I assume that two of the wires are NMEA in and two re NMEA out and vice versa. If you just want your GPS to input into the VHF then you only need the two NMEA out wires on the plotter connected to the two NMEA in wires on the VHF. However, one of the functions of a DSC radio is that you are able to poll the position of another DSC equipped vessel and assuming it responds, this will be bring up its position on the plotter, presumably through the NMEA out wires on the VHF and NMEA in wires on the plotter. I hope this makes sense? There may be other functions as well that I have not yet discovered.
