ICC Entitlement

Good morning,

Can anyone confirm the length of vessel I am able to use in France and Spain, using an ICC obtained via a Powetboat level 2 course, is it hard and fast at 10m?

Hi Richie, yes you're right. You can use a boat up to 10 metres (33 feet ish) with your PB2 ICC on the Continent. I took my PB2 to get my ICC so I could use the French canals and that's what I'm limited to (which is fine as my boats a 30 footer anyway).
If you're going inland then you'll need a CEVNI qualification as well on your ICC (very easy to get).

I was told whatever size you did PB2 on is what you are covered for, so if you do PB2 on a 12m the higher applies.

Ah, I did my PB2 on a 6 metre RIB so I'm covered up to 10 metres. if you done yours on something bigger than you may very well be covered up to 24 metres in length.

Your ICC will state what it covers. Why not ask the RYA as they issue it. Better than guessing or making your own assumptions.

I believe that if you did your Powetboat level 2 before they set the 10m limit, you will have automatically have been given the bigger ICC
I think.

By chance, I renewed my ICC last week and I looked back at all of the old certificates. My first one had a 10m limit (because I did it on a <10m boat). So did the next one. By the time I renewed it again (2011) I had a YM commercially endorsed for 200grt/24m and so the ICC which was issued after that had the limit removed. What I can't remember is whether I applied for that or it was issued automatically with the limit removed. I certainly didn't do a further ICC test.

Level 2 gives you up to 10m. If you do an ICC assessment on a boat less than 10m your ICC will be endorsed for less than 10m.

Higher qualifications, Powerboat Advanced, YM etc give you an ICC without the 10m endorsement.
