Hope this is acceptable - but this is the East Coast Forum

I always said that there would never be any Keep Turning Left DVDs.

Ian French has made a liar of me and has mastered all of the 2009 Keep Turning Left films - 36 of them covering the Blackwater to the Alde - six hours of films plus a couple of hours of additional material all burned onto four DVDs.

I took them over to my neighbours house and had a look at them on his 50 inch TV and Ian has done an amazing job on the films. It was the first time I had seen any of them on a proper TV. Blimey the East coast is a wonderful place to sail.

Pricing is a bit hit and miss - as you would expect - so we have decided that if anyone wants a set they can PM their address and I will send a set to you - once you are happy that they look okay on your telly or laptop then you can make a contribution of £30 - which I promise to squander on this quixotic quest to film all the rivers and estuaries worth visiting around our amazing 20,000 mile long coastline.

Apologies if this is out of order for the forum.....

:o I need to get the dictionary out! So to save any others the trouble .........

Quixotic - enthustiastic visionary, person who utterly neglects his interests in comparison with honour or devotion.

Sail round 20,000 miles of coastline  neglecting interests - I dont think so! :D

Good luck with the DVDs.

Quixotic: Caught up in the romance of noble deeds and the pursuit of unreachable goals - Describes KTL to a T. (Beginning to sound like Call My Bluff)

Wunja is closer

I think that Wunja definition is probably closer to what I am doing

- well my wife thinks I am a crazy person - and she should know

Quixotic really comes from Don Quixote fully titled The Ingenious Hidalgo Don Quixote of La Mancha

Its about an underfunded crazy old myopic bloke who sets out on a rediculously long journey on a clapped out old form of transport. He attempts to right wrongs he meets along the way - at one point he comes across some windmills and mistakes them for four armed monsters which he bravely attacks.

Windmills 1 - Don Quixote 0

Perhaps its time to change the slug's name to Rocinante

What Dylan hasn't mentioned is that the DVD's are mastered from the original films, not downloaded from the website or you tube.

This means that the quality of the pictures is way beyond the internet versions. :D

Ian

That makes a big difference. I had wondered when Dylan mentioned he had watched them on a 50" screen.

PM about to be sent.

Medway and Thames

I'll be PMing for a copy as well - any chance of the earlier films esp Thames and Medway being available?

2008 was abit of an experiment - I only filmed it on a cheapo std definition camera - and also used music I had not paid for. I also missed a lot of wonderful rivers and did not taking this jaunt seriulsy until the second year so I will not consider my journey finished until I get back to the Blackwater and have filmed the whole of the UK in HD

So you might have to wait for a while until I get around again - although Ian has a set of masters for 2008

But the Medway was a real revelation to me - a great river - some wonderful areas - amazing history - I took the slug right to the top of the navigation - up through the six locks. To think that I rode the tide up the swale without stopping at Fambridge. Did not even go ashore on Sheppey. I do feel that I also ought to give Ramsgate a second chance.

So a decent shot at the medway and the Thames will be happening at some time in the future
