Iain Tolhurst will give the White Horse Cruising Club a talk on the building of "Naida" the 36 foot wooden yacht he built from timber from the great storm of 1987. Most other materials were reclaimed or recycled and he spent 22,000 hours on the project. The total cost was around £60,000. Naida was launched earlier this year at Pangbourne, motored down river where the mast was stepped and has spent her first season in Plymouth. The White Horse Cruising Club is based at the British Legion Hall, East Hanney, Oxfordshire, between Abingdon and Wantage.7.30 doors open, talk at 8.00 PM.Club prices at the bar, expect our membership sec. to give you a form. He was to be seen moored at Henley next to some boats from Bray (impromptu BCC or Forum event??) earlier in the season.
Quite a sight, beautifully finished - B1 did you take any pics?
a very interesting chap to engage in conversation.
I'm sure his lecture will be very interesting.
