I was out today. Lovely high sitting over Ireland at the moment and forecast to stay for 5 more days.
Love winter boating. It surprises me how warm it is in the cockpit with the forward canopie left in place, realy cozy.
You have got me thinking about our home city. We spend all our time trying to get away and spend a lot of time in London, Barcelona etc.
It's a long time since I actually visited Dublin city (live in surburbia, socialise in surburbia etc). Thinking further about it, I think it's time that I treat my wife to a shopping day in Grafton St and an overnight in The Westbury. That should score some browney points. Glad you enjoyed yourself and I hope that you left plenty of spending money in our economy.
I certainly did Snazzy. We stayed in The Westin which was right in the centre of the shops and the pubs. And while I was there, a myth was shattered. Guinness really does taste different in Ireland. I hate the stuff here but we had some with our Irish Stew on Saturday lunchtime and it was fantastic ! We then spent Saturday night singing and dancing in Gogartys to some fantastic traditional bands. Finally, weaving our way back to the hotel at around 2.30am. And that was just the first day ! I can't wait to return.
I went there on business a few years back for an early Monday morning meeting, so flew out on Friday night instead of Sunday night, with a business colleague, to make a weekend of it.
What we didn't realise beforehand was that it was during the foot and mouth epidemic, and St Patricks day celebrations had been cancelled, then rearranged to coincide with the weekend we were there!
I'm sure it was a fantastic weekend, even though I don't remember much of it! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Pauline, we know you are good, even with a mouthfull of Irish !
They can't say those words properly in Dublin though. Get Mr B to take you cruising round Ireland sometime, and I'll point out a few places where the Spillane clan will take care of you, and you can spit out those words properly
