How do I stop those bloody irritating pop-ups appearing every time I log on? I know I should be more tolerant and appreciate that the advertising from them helps pay for my little divertissement here, but they bug the hell out of me. It's irrational, I know, but so am I.

go to www.google.co.uk
type in toolbar and search
get the google toolbar and download it to your PC.
You now have a really handy search facility that sits neatly at the top of your browser screen.
On that is a popup blocker - mine currently has 205 blocked
really works and really gives you instant access to the google search engine

Re: Blimey! - that was quick.

I've downloaded the google one onto around 200 pc's at work and it hasn't posed any problems. The google one is fine at any rate - not sure about jeeves or others

You could go to this site and download "Popup stopper"

Also while you are there, explore the site, lots of good freebies on it and all spyware free !....

I never see pop ups on these forums.

I don't log out so I don't have to logon and I go straight in to the R to R forum having saved that in my favorites list.

Google tool bar on my note book no pop ups, says what it does on the tin, with no problems.
Touch wood ,salt over left shoulder, and stroke lucky rabbits foot.(lucky for me not the rabbit!) .
Ad aware from Lava soft also gets rid of trojans and spy ware,do search on your new Google bar ,it's free as well.
I acknowledge that none of this info is from my own in depth knowledge but has been gleaned from these forums.

There are many iffy toolbars about. Google is not one of them,is perfectly safe, and is a great tool into the bargain.

It is safe, but it does turn some fields yellow if it thinks it can do an "auto complete". It also remembers your last few searches until you delete the search history. This can be both a benefit and a hazard...

The easiest way is to put a link in your favourites straight to this page

Chances are you are the victim of one or many spyware applications that have installed themselves on your computer without you knowing it.

To get rid of these infuriating trojans bombarding you with adverts and pop-ups go to:

<A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.lavasoft.de/>http://www.lavasoft.de/</A>

and download and install Ad-Aware, which will remove most spyware and return your machine to its normal happy self.

he means the rover and anchor adverts which appear when you log on, not general stuff - hence comments about advertising that pays for these forums
