I understand Southwold has been accepting visitors

A number of arrests for immigration offences have been made after a group was seen leaving a boat in Southwold Harbour.
The groups disembarked and was spotted getting into vehicles at about 18:00 GMT on Wednesday, Suffolk Police said.
The Border Force said 14 Albanian men had been taken into custody on suspicion of entering the UK illegally.
The drivers of two vehicles were also been arrested on suspicion of assisting illegal migration.

I wonder if any of us - were we in the snakehead trade - would think that Southwold Harbour was a good choice for a “run”? Surrounded by activity, so lots of witnesses, nowhere out of sight, and only one narrow road out.
Where do you suggest 14 Albanian men would inconspicuously blend in to the local scene, without attracting attention?
Boston is a definitely a possibility.

I can certainly see the merits of Orford, or perhaps Butley.

Butley and area are very tide bound with mud banks, although I suppose a boat could anchor off Havergate and creep up to the dock in Moonlight.
Its within a stones throw of Hollesley Bay Prison and I guess they could get mobilised security out quickly (but I doubt it).
The interesting thing about these landings is the only exits have to go over Snape Bridge or Wilby (Melton) Bridge.
Apparently they tell the clients at Hollesley that they are on an island, not far from the truth.

Edit: thinking about that, its rubbish. There are routes through to A12 through Tunstall, etc.
Orford Quay is simple. Couple of builders vans, whatever. Stop, jump up a ladder and gone into the misty gloom.

Under the cover of darkness, a lot of people could disappear very quickly into darkness in Southwold and be collected in non-descript vehicles and transported away, easily and quickly. Southwold Harbour is very dark if no moon.

What gave it away is that they arrived far too early and got spotted by an employee at the Harbour lol

Helicopter on scene very quickly and thermal imaging takes away the guesswork.

Set up to fail I think for this job!

If I come across a similar situation, If they ask what happens after their capture, what shall I say to them ? Also, is there a reward ?

You say, "Gut evenink. Vor you ze valk is ofer!"

I wonder if they paid the eye-watering harbour fees? Arriving at 1800 they were far too late to enjoy the most expensive shower of their lives. Shame.
Still, let's hope they lucked-in got an electric hook-up for their money. No? Oh dear, an expensive visit then. At least the free taxi ride saved them the expense of being ripped off again in the Harbour Inn.

I have a book on Kindle. Single Handed by Chris Rob.
A novel about drug smuggling in Southwold.
Not great literature but a pleasant read. Perhaps they got some ideas from that book?
