...I am a moboer now, but when I read threads like This I can't see how I would fit in. £7000 annual charge for valetting?
I could buy 2 (or 3) boats a year for that!!

wrong forum surely?

One of the reasons I post there infrequently, after having a discussion years back that it was becoming big boat focused, and that my little 21' boat had as much relevance as brokerage deals on moorings in south of France.

Nope. Proper forum, for exactly the reasons you outline.
I am expressing my opinions to real-world boaters.
I posted a light-hearted comment in this thread which was treated like dogshit on your shoe.

where in that thread did I comment to anyone, never mind you! You're going wooly headed, and I blame it on the motor you have on your current boat. Go back to sailing, it suits you better.

I read it and thought about becoming a boat valetter!

OK, it's hard work (unless you employ grunts), and you've got to make your wedge in the summer months, but the numbers don't look bad.

One of the reasons I rarely post in there is because most of the chat is about boats that are very expensive and the toys to go with them are more the sort of thing I'd have at home . If I do post I usually get ignored by certain people that seem to think I'm beneath them . These are the same ones that moan about the cost of moorings then ask where is the best place for thier 21 ft lcd widescreen monitor so they can watch satelite tv picked up via the computer controlled electical multidirectional satelite dish installed at a cost of £XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX ,,, anyone else notice the high prices are always highlighted ?
Big boys with big expensive toys enjoy bragging about the cost as much as the complaints about the cost of services , it seems to make up for thier lack of cock

That's as bad as assuming that lakey is a reformed porn pic man , very few know anyones real abilities , and no I don't know knitting better than boating , I'll have you know I specifically bought a triple keeler to avoid the chance of getting me bum wet too
Anyway , my boat is bigger than yours , well , maybe not the tenders but the other boats are

hate to be a dumbo lakey but I imagine your post got no response because no one understood it. I was scratching my head. Was that a picture of a car made in Croatia or something made by the Prince Motor Co of Japan which was bought by Nissan around 1970?

That was a cracking post LS - I for one appreciated your contribution, feeling that it added a hint of Eddie Izzard to what would otherwise have been a vomit-inducing collection of nonsense. [ QUOTE ]
Cockpit doors add about £10k + VAT

Yeah afraid that forum has left me cold lots of times, dont go there much no need, out of my league. 7k would pay my moorings and a bottom job every two years. What's wrong with cleaning your own boat?

Well, I was in a quandry, not quite knowing how to phrase it. I don't like saying "ones" shoe and to say "their" shoe would be divisive.
And I wouldn't want to appear divisive.

But I accept that it appears that you were the target of that post and I abjectly appologise for any disquiet you may have felt.

I know how sensitive you are. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I accept that it was a bit subtle, but I would think that many on the MOBO forum would have followed motor racing in their yoof.

Colmce has sorted it for you.

I think you should have said they treated it like dogshit on the pavement rather than the shoe, ie. they just ignored it, and stepped over with their eyes carefully averted.

That exchange has a serious side: imho it should be a rule of the forums that those who have a commercial interest, whether boatbuilder, chandlery, brokers, etc... should have to put the appropriate moniker in the sidebar. Or is that impractical? The thread you pointed us to was half devoted to technical details being provided by the boatbuilder, unless I am mistaken? I have no objection to that - a long exchange between, say, Jeanneau technical director and Jeanneau sailors is fine on S'butt or R2R, as long as we know who is who, or whom as the case may be.

(To Kim: I want a Rodin-thinker type smiley please...:p)

Too much for me; I abandoned the thread at the tacky 10000 pound optional doors and never got to see the great car pic.

Lovely thing. Engine in the right place. Almost certainly 500% more heart-poundingly thrilling when driven as fast it will go up a small twisty road than a huge 30 knot motor boat doing swooshy s shapes just off the beach. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
