Have looked at the BadElf GPS for my ipad and don't like the little dongle thing at the end where it can get knocked - not to mention obstructions/line of sight and location on the boat. Is there an extension lead available where the GPS can be mounted clear of the ipad?
Also would the Bluetooth GPS offer more flexibility with additional functionality? What are the advantages/disadvantages?
Looks like the Bluetooth is also a more cost effective solution??
I need to decide as I have Navionics installed and sold my backup chartplotter in favour of "Apple".
All your comments will be appreciated and no doubt shared across the forum.
My thanks in advance

Can't speak for the ipad part of the question but I use a Bluetooth GPS with a PDA for walking and a cheap 'plotter'. The battery lasts for a couple of days and it just works. Obviously it can be placed wherever is most convenient (rucksack for walking/under sprayhood for sailing). You can use it on other Bluetooth enabled devices (non-GPS smartphone?).
