A few of our club members are thinking of sailing over to the isle of man in june. we havent been there for a few years. and was wondering if port st. mary has changed. are there pontoons installed yet, or do fin keelers have to raft up at the outer pier.

I went to Port St Mary three years ago, previous to that I had been there twenty years ago. I was told there were now facilities for yachts. We arrived and had to raft up ten deep! The facilities? Someone had painted the word 'Yatch' on the harbour wall. It was better twenty years ago!!

Re: I O M

the flapgate is an hydraulic operated gate that is raised to hold the water within the inner harbour basin during low water. this maintains a depth over the sill of 2.6m.

I agree, what a dump, no pontoons, no tourists, no slot machines, no fast food joints. Far better you go to Douglas.
