In the struggle to downsize and upspeed I have decided I want a Monterey 245/250/270 which I understand is basically the same boat. One with a Yanmar 240 diesel and preferably a duo-prop drive but this last want is optional.
All reasons why this is a bad idea gratefully received!

If you're going for a Yanmar with a duo-prop, it's going to be a Bravo 3 drive. Do a Google on this combo. The B3 drives do not like the power/torque from the diesels and blow up (not literly, but they destroy themselves). The 3X came out to help resolve this problem but as far as I know there were still issues. There was also a transom shower created which would spray water on the gearbox to help with heat issues. Either way, it's a combo i'd avoid

Good advice from Alt on the Yanny B3 combo - best avoided. The Yan240 with B2 is the best set up. Also - see my PM.
