Foolish pride prevents me from wearing a pre-tied bow tie to black dinner type evenings and I have to go to one in a couple of weeks, the thing is I have lost the instructions for how to tie the proper one.

Someone on here must be able to help? Or do I wear a pre tied one early on, then slip into the cloakroom later, remove the pre-tied one and drape the proper one round my neck thus fooling the rest of the bash into thinking I was able to tie the proper one?

I’m sure the forum realises how important an issue this is, but what else to do on a Monday night other than practice tying such a thing? Right then, off to the WH, back bout 11.30, will check for instructions then.

I use a clip-on and replace it as the night warms up with a casually slung untied one.
Make sure you leave your flies open too, Willy might want to stick his head out and take a peek around the room/

A friend of mine has the same dilema each time he has to go to a black tie do. In fact he did this at my wedding.

Because he can't tie a real bow tie he wears an elasticated one, but for later to impress the girlies he pops to he loo and takes of the elasticated one and draps the real one around his neck. No need to worry about trying to get the real one one or off once ineabriated (Sp?).

Job Done.

Re: women? HA!

hahahahahahahahahaha

yes, women.
easy things to know they are. oooh totally readable. i can always predict the next involuntary mood swing. why 2 wardrobes can be full of nothing to wear.

why, apparently, it is wrong to suggest that getting married will be a ' a bit scary and horrid, maybe we should buy that nicholson i showed you instead' 6 days before you are due to meet the vicar and book the marquee.

ooh yes i can tell you all about women me. dead easy.

(sorry am i ranting? Bit of pre nuptual argument with mrs sailbad to be last night.)

Come on brain.get this over and i can go back to killing you with beer
