Probably one of the ribs that went past me at exactly same point at entrance to Hamble at 30+ knots when I was doing 6. Sent the wife sprawling across the deck of our 28 footer. Fortunately no injury. Mind you I have seen the harbour master from Warsash hot of the tails of one or two.

he got some wet suit material wrapped around his prop and rudder and stopped dead in the water, the tide took him to that position in about 3 mins.

I know most yotties don't know how to hoist their sails but you'd think he'd at least have had a go at hoisting something to try to avoid going aground. Supports my notion that most yachts are just used as very slow motorboats which just happen to have a mast

Interestingly, its how one MoBo man at our club managed to get another "grounded" yottie afloat. He circled it at speed and the wash was all over the place the keels bumped a little but within two minutes the yacht was back in deep water and on his way back into the harbour.

Is that another one aground in the background just to the right of the saily boat with the white sails? looks to be too heeled over for the wind.

don't think so, that is the river Hamble entrance , so he is in the deeper water.
