But I was just having a gentle sail this afternoon in my restored Heron and the boom split.
Not a big deal as it just became a loose footed sail (which it is in effect as it's a bit baggy)
So I carried on. And no I wasn't pressing it too hard. Poor old thing is 50 years old.
Then the tiller snapped where it comes out of the rudder headstock.
It has all the hallmarks of being rotten. Not what you expect for a bit of oak that's hardly juvenile!
OK at this point I was a bit closer to the wind, but not pinching or over stressing things at all.
Bit more repair work to do. At least the centre-board casing leak has slowed down to a mild gush. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
