I just agreed to buy a boat in Italy. Now what do I do?

What is the boat? You may well have said but I’ll also plead senility if I’ve forgotten.

Whatever it is, congrats for getting past an unusual amount of hurdles and I hope you will continue to be very happy with the acquisition.
Thanks. It was indeed really hard. I nearly pulled out multiple times. It’s a 2017 designer thing. 77’. For the reasons above it’s all I can say.

Being an Italian myself, and VERY familiar with what Sticky Fingers aptly called the labyrinth, I can only second the congratulations.
All the best, and don't forget that in due course, whenever you will think it's appropriate, we always appreciate some boat porn pics! (y)

I’d be happy to, but I can’t. Trouble is, I described the owner as senile and with the pictures that becomes a personal, rather than an abstract insult. Give it a good bit of time out of consideration.
Perhaps you can ask the mods to edit the thread to remove any derogatory references to the previous owner

Congrats dogone, must have very satisfying to get it over the line. I live in Italy and I can imagine this wasn't particularly easy!

(Roughly) whereabouts is the boat?
No, it wasn’t easy. Four legal teams. One for me UK, one in IT. One for seller and one for the guardian. Each spinning it along, well milking it to the max really.

Boat is a moving target. To Ponza in a day or two and if any forumites want to say hi.

Bugger me. I just looked at post 1. Nearly a year ago and over a year since I decided to buy it. Man, life is too short… and why did I not reduce the price due to another year of depreciation? Not so clever, but I know the answer, the further delays would have cost the season and I wanted it over.

I was involved in purchase of a fairly expensive Beneteau on Mallorca. The broker insisted it was VAT paid but it later turned out that it wasn't.The first owner had it supplied to the SOF saying he was heading for Turkey but actually turned right for Palma.I still have copies of some of the documents. What a mess.
