Some hoaxer puporting to be someone called Centaurpipedream sent me a text on my phone telling me news so unlikely, it cant possibly be true.
Watch out for this, you may get one yourself.

Apparently, it says : Centaurpipedream passed his Yachtmaster Exam yesterday!!!!!!

Just in case it is true, then:

Congratulations Alan, brialliant mate!!!

It's true - he rang me. Despite distractions present at the time (my lips are sealed from further disclosures) /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Well done mate /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Congratulations Alan

Does that give some sort of seniority that allows you to the bar first /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Judging by the message, I presume he thinks we all owe him a pint /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Message reads

Bow low, show bagloads of respect, for today I passed my yachtmasters exam.

Well done Alan, but the beers are on you /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I can officially report that the hoax is not, and that I am feeling more than a little chuffed with myself. The 4am end to the day after sharing a bottle of rum completed what was a great day of sailing yesterday, and I hereby apologise to all those in receipt of over the top nonsense texts /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Last tuesday through to saturday was spent trolling the rivers and creeks of the solent, navigating through RYA fog with no instruments other than depth, picking up moorings, night entrances into portsmouth, and various other bts and pieces, sailing through horizontal snow storms in a F8/9 under trisail only , getting frozen beyon belief, and enjoying pretty much every minute of it. The exam itself yesterday was fairly straightforward with no major surprises, and even the weather behaved itself. Local pilotage, course to steer across the solent, secondary ports/heights/times for lunch etc and the obligatory mob exercise with test cards for lights/sounds/colregs etc.

Thanks for all your comments chaps, and as Flipper says, now starts/continues the real learning .............

As I'm sure you realise, none of us needs an apology /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif you did well Alan, so when mine is launched you can come and show me the ropes any time, but yes, the beers are on you /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
