Hello

I have a pretty cool opportunity for two of you.

As part of the work I do, I'm helping P&O Cruises organise the grand event for their 175th Anniversary (http://175.pocruises.com/).

We have two spaces on the Press Boat for keen and active bloggers within the sailing/motor boating/cruising network who can make it to Southampton for the day on the 3rd July 2012 and would like to post about the event on their blog.

If you would like to get a VIP on-water view of this grand event, including champagne and a Red Arrows display (weather permitting), please post a link to your website/blog/social/online presence and why you'd like to come along.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

that is where you are wrong

He doesn't like motor boats :D

Not quite true

I even post threads about lovely mobos on the lovely mobo forum

http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?t=320647

it is rudeness I object to

for some reason I dislike the blokes who drive them at high speeds in places they should be driving slowly

but for aesthetics.... give me a flappy thing almost any time out of preference to a zoomy thing

there are exceptions to this rule of course

- being the former owner of an amazingly ugly flappy thing

but I have seen some truly lovely mobos

- but most of the ones I like seem to be made of wood for some reason

as of the P and O event

here is a link to it rather than one on KTL

http://175.pocruises.com/

I don't think it is a nomination thing

the way the plan works is to get lots of bloggers to put a link to the event on their blogs for a chance of a trip on a press boat

it is my guess that a link like this

http://175.pocruises.com/

placed here

will be worth much more than a link on KTL

besides....

seven floating foreign built plushly decorated floating Butlins in one place each one stuffed with people who have spent far too long grazing the overloaded buffets while being served by Phillipinos who only see their families once a year.....

not quite the KTL thing

although now I have a faux teak cockpit I am ready to change my tune at a moment's notice

speaking of mobos

I think this chap is quite rude

and very good it is too

He does have a blog, but not so that you would notice. I update it at least every year. http://lakesailorslog.blogspot.co.uk/

The possibility of me being in Southampton on July 3rd is vaguely less likely than that of me shagging a brown bear in Canada on Bonfire Night. :D

I really enjoy reading it

the last post - Jan 22 was a classic

I love Lakey's description of himself too

"Devastatingly handsome, fit and lithe, I command the water with authority. Living near the lake I absorb the unique atmosphere of the area and exude it in a torrent of bonhomie, good humour and taste."

I commend his blog to any lover of good writing, wit and irony combined with brilliant pix

say what you like about lakey - no I mean say what youy like

......

but he is a man who really understands light and the way it interacts with water

but it sounds like fun

What spend a day suffering corporate hospitality from one of the very companies that disgorges thousands of tourists, like plagues of locusts into Venice, Zadar, Split and Dubrovnik ..... they're like coach parties at service stations - only ten times worse!!!! ;)

... just as well I don't have a blog. :D

sounds like fun though

grab those experiences

we only go once around the wheel

give you something to talk about

scenario 1

"What did you do today dear?"

"took the dog for a walk, and spent the rest of the time with an Excel Spreadsheet."

Lovely

Scenario 2

"what did you do today dear"

"I went to Southampton - one of the World's most amazing ports and saw seven of the World's largest and most luxurious cruise liners manoevering in the solent while the World's best areobatic display team flew overhead. I drank a shed load of free wine with a boat packed to the gills with freeloading hacks and ate some brilliant food."

sounds great to me

Lovely dear

Hi Having been a land lord of a pub on the Norfolk Broads I am quite used to mobos flying past including the RNLI in a rib with two big out boards although my wife had a lovely wooden mobo until a large floppy smashed a hole in the side under the lower rubbing board were we didn't see until it was too late, may she rest in peace.

If Lakey's up for it, I'd certainly be willing to make a contribution towards the travel, accommodation and hospital costs of the latter.

apologise

I should like to apologise upon behalf of all caring flappies for the disgraceful behaviour of one of our number

I do hope the flappy man left a note

did the mobo sink as a result of the collision?

commiserations in depth
