I am in the process of taking out the engine I have removed the linkage and engine mount bolts Q does anyone know if the engine will come out without removing the rubber membrane And how is it attached to the sail drive like spline or tongue and groove. Thanks in advance for your help

Splines, so you can pull it forward and lift leaving the saildrive in place, but you will need to support the drive unit from the bottom, so not something you can do in the water.

Tranona - Volvo sail drives can be supported on steel rods (though I have never done it). The idea being, I assume, you can remove the engine in the water. Is there no way to support the sail drive in situ?

My boat is on the hard until May. My Bukh engine is a vertical drive flywheel on the top and the piston is horizontal. I thought that the motor would come off the rubber membrane, when i pry the engine the membrane flexes up with it.
