Well, was commissioning a boat last week in La Rague and somehow ended up going from the South of France to North Wales in less than 24 hrs (big problem when everyone has your 24/7 mobile, the cheeky so and so's expect you to actually answer it !).

Anyway long and short of it was had dash to up to North Wales to meet a customer on his six week old 39 as some kind sparky (not employed by us I hasten to add) whilst fitting bigum LCD made a hash of his beautiful new American oak joinery, poor guy was so distraught and upset I agreed to shoot up there and see what could be done as quickly as possible and also do the 20 hour post delivery inspection as there was now 19 hrs on her, kill two birds with the one stone sort of thing.

Having met the customer at the Marina viewed the damage, discussed the options and how long it would take to get the new oak panels I decided to whizz up to the sea cat and come home for the week er, (ish). Realising I hadn't actually eaten anything since breakfast and it was now 15.00 thought I 'll get a sandwich and find somewhere along the North Wales coastline on route to stop, admire the view and have my sandwich. Spotted a nice little road that seemed to lead off in the direction of the sea so off I go, up....down....left .....right every which way and don't even ask me to pronounce any names of villages etc I haven't a notion /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Totally bloomin lost I was then, suddenly I ended up here, out of the blue, unsign posted, directions, tourist info or anything (well from the direction I cames from anyway).

What a charming, peaceful place it was, no idea where it was but sandwiches tasted all the better for sitting on the grass along the quayside in the warm sunshine admiring the view, well worth getting lost for /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

Does anyone know where I got lost??? I still don't, leaving I drove up a steepish hill and round a few corners and suddenly I was back on the main road again /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Nautical, you should pay more attention. This is Kawasaki's and my home port.

Hope you said hello to Steve the dock master. If you had carried along the front, you will have come across the outer harbour

where I keep my boat.

Hey Up!
We missed each other again!
39 ft is No prob.
Bit tight in the Basin, where the Major is but would fit in My berth a bit nearer the Basin entrance.
My berth will be free for about 4 weeks I reckon whilst repairs are in progress.
If not through the Lock gates into the inner bit there is always a spot.
Used to be Coasters toting slate to aall over the UK and some bits of the Continent in times gone by.
I can understand Your difficulty in Navigation somewhat.
These days all signs to the Dock say "Felinheli" twas the Hamlet's origional name.
"Port Dinorwic" it became cos it was the Home Port of Dinorwic quarries which was a big Slate operation a hundred years ago.
Yep it is kinda cosy, if a bit laid back. Berthing arrangements can be a bit ad hoc too!
Go out for a couple of days and sometimes when You get back someone has snuck in Yer berth!
Major's right, yer have to befriend Steve the Docmeister sometimes!
Any Manx You may have picked up on THE IOM won't help much with the local signposts either.
How about if You lived in My village.
Llanfaipwllgwyngyllwyndrobwyll llantisiliog go go goch! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Definately easier to say Cregneish or Laxey!
Douglas to Puffin (North End of the Straits) is 54 Miles.
Only take You an Hour and a Half! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Then a little chunter up the Straits to Dinowric Marina (Todays correct name) about another 30 mins observing speed limits and other vessels and admiring the Views and the rock avoidence in the Swellies.
So yers welcome anytime.
Talk about sarnies on the grass.
Had Fish Chips and mushie peas on the beach in Peal last Monday and did the Little museum and the Manx Heritage one too.
Proper Tourists We were--- Nice.
Being going to the Island since 59. Crikey never seen the place so full.
Had a great time with Drewstwos.
Be back asap.
Well soon as Me boats fixed! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Yes, you can get a 39 footer in the dock. Just call the Port Dinorwic marina on 01248 671500 or channel 80 and they will help you out. There is usually a 65 foot Oyster there, so your boat should be no problem.

Let us know when you are visiting and we will make you buy us a cup of tea. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
